ITHACA, N.Y. – Seniors Sarah O'Neil and Kirsten Kohagen, and sophomore Lauren Frazier were honored by their teammates at the annual women's tennis banquet on Sunday night at the Moakley House.

O'Neil was named the team's Most Valuable Player for the second year in a row after once again anchoring the top spot in singles while bouncing around the doubles lineup. She was 9-6 overall in dual singles matches, including a 7-1 mark in nonleague tilts. Two of those victories were against once-ranked opponents — UMBC's Kim Berghaus and Fairleigh Dickinson's Anna Rapoport. She also won the 'A' singles bracket at both the Cornell Fall Invitational and Cornell Winter Invitational at Reis Tennis Center.

In Ivy League play, O'Neil defeated Dartmouth's Sarah Leonard, 6-2, 6-4, and Brown's Misia Krasowski, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. That win against Krasowski also led to O'Neil being presented the Best Match award on Sunday, as the win clinched a 4-3 victory for the Big Red against the Bears at Brown's Varsity Tennis Courts.

Frazier was presented the Most Improver Player award, after posted the best winning percentage (.800) in singles play of the Big Red's regular competitors. She was 12-3 from the bottom two spots in the order, including a perfect 4-0 from the No. 5 position. Frazier was 2-3 in Ivy League play — all from the No. 6 spot. She also won all 10 of her non-league matches, including seven in straight sets. Frazier was equally strong in doubles, where she was 11-5. She had a team-high seven of those victories from the No. 1 position, primarily teamed with O'Neil. Frazier was then shifted to a partnership with junior Ryann Young for the final three weeks, where the tandem posted a 5-1 record in Ivy League play.

Erika Travis, the team's strength and conditioning coach, also presented Kohagen with the Iron Woman Award, which is given to the squad's hardest worker in the weight room. Kohagen had concluded her four years on East Hill with a 12-10 record in singles and 10-5 in doubles, primarily in tournaments.
