Jake Jatis has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week it was announced today by the conference office. He is the first Big Red player to earn the award since
Luke Hagy captured honors twice during the 2010 campaign.
Jatis became just the second rookie to start a game under center when he opened Saturday's 20-7 loss at unbeaten Bucknell. He joined good company, as two-time All-American
Jeff Mathews '14 - the Ivy League's all-time leading passer - started the final nine games of the 2010 campaign to become the first. He ended the game 11-of-23 passing for 102 yards and a touchdown, while also running 11 times for 20 yards. The touchdown was his first career score. Through two contests, Jatis is 14-of-26 passing for 152 yards and a touchdown, while also running for 49 yards.
Jatis and the Big Red return to action on Saturday, Oct. 4 when they open their home campaign and the Ivy League season when Yale visits Schoellkopf Field at 12:30 p.m.
