Jane Stewart won 2nd Singles and teamed up with sophomore
Madison Stevens to win the 'B' doubles bracket, plus freshman
Michelle Wang also won 3rd Singles to highlight the women's tennis team's standout performance at the West Point Invite.
The three-day event was hosted by Army West Point, wrapping up Sunday. Cornell was one of 22 schools competing at the event, though no team scores were kept. Other schools competing are Akron, Army West Point, Albany, Binghamton, Bryant, Connecticut, Drexel, Fairleigh Dickinson, Fordham, Hartford, Lehigh, Long Island, Marist, NJIT, Providence, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, St. Bonaventure, Saint Peter's, Seton Hall and Syracuse.
Stewart was seeded sixth in her singles bracket and rallied to defeat Albany's Paulina Torres in the quarterfinals, 3-6, 6-1, (10-8). After cruising past eighth-seeded Anna Fajnorova, of Seton Hall, in the semifinal, 6-2, 6-0, Stewart defeated sophomore teammate
Priyanka Shah in the championship match, 6-2, 6-2.
Wang won 3rd Singles, defeating fellow Cornell freshman
Mariko Iinuma in the final, 7-5, 6-4. Wang was seeded third and advanced to the final with a dominating 6-0, 6-1 win over sixth-seeded Melanie Allen, of Army West Point, in the semifinals. Her toughest match came in the quarterfinals, when she came from behind to defeat Connecticut's Shea Flanagan, 3-6, 6-1, (10-6).
Stevens and Stewart held true to their No. 1 seed in 'B' doubles with a 6-3 victory against Connecticut's Shea Flanagan and Zaina Zaki in the championship. The Big Red duo had a 6-3 victory over LIU-Brooklyn's Malin Leysen and Meriam Rhallab in the semifinals, and another 6-3 triumph over Army West Point's Julian Mok and Arianna Spiritos in the quarterfinals.

Marika Cusick finished second after a 2-6, 6-1, (10-6) loss to Connecticut's Srna Stosljevic, the fourth seed, in the final. Cusick defeated top-seeded LIU-Brooklyn entry Anna Grigoryan, 6-0, 7-5, in the semifinals; seventh-seeded Emma Alderson, of Connecticut, 7-5, 6-4, in the quarterfinals, and Lehigh's Grace Lin, 6-2, 7-6(2), in the Round of 16.

Dena Tanenbaum defeated Binghamton's Sara Kohtz in the Round of 16, 6-2, 6-2, but then lost a quarterfinal tilt against sixth-seeded Carolyn Pitman, of Army West Point, 6-2, 7-6(3).

Fourth singles: Stevens finished second in the 4th Singles bracket, dropping a hard-fought 6-7(4), 6-3, (10-8) decision to Army West Point's Bridget Guenard in the final. The third seed, Stevens got to the championship after staving off top-seeded Jacqueline Lazaro, of Connecticut, in the semifinals, 7-6(3), 0-6, (10-8). She also defeated Lehigh's Abby Duddy, 6-2, 6-4 in the quaterfinals and Seton Hall's Kate Kim, 6-4, 7-5, in the Round of 16.

Allegra Hanlon outlasted Providence's Brooke Burnside in the Round of 16, 4-6, 6-1, (10-8), but was eliminated in the quarterfinals by second-seeded Gillian Perrotta, of Connecticut, 6-3, 7-6(4).

'A' doubles: Top-seeded Tanenbaum and Wang won against Army West Point's Gabriella Spindler and Eva Sung in the quarterfinals, 6-3, but then were eliminated in the semifinals by fourth-seeded Jacqueline Fitz-Randolph and Srna Stosljevic, of Connecticut, 7-6(6).
