Biography
In 2012-13 (senior)
A team captain and defensive specialist, Asafo-Adjei averaged 2.8 points, 2.6 assists and 1.6 rebounds in his final season. Asafo-Adjei played in 30 contests with 28 starts and averaged 20.5 minutes per contest. Among the Ancient Eight's leaders in assist-turnover ratio (79:35), he had 47 assists and 14 turnovers in his last 18 games. He closed his career with a career-high 15 points to go along with four assists in a career-best 36 minutes of play at Ivy League champion Harvard. Asafo-Adjei had nine points with four rebounds and four assists against Yale and had six points, two rebounds and two assists at No. 22 Wisconsin. In the win over Colgate, Asafo-Adjei had eight points and four assists.
In 2011-12 (junior)
After emerging as a starter early in the season and playing his best basketball of his career, Asafo-Adjei missed 15 games (Cornell 6-9 during that span), including the first nine Ivy League contests, due to illness. The defensive star and arguably the quickest guard in the Ancient Eight averaged 2.7 points and 2.1 assists in 13 games played, including four starts. Asafo-Adjei shot 50 percent from the floor overall and had a 27:13 assist-turnover ratio. Prior to his illness, Asafo-Adjei was averaging 5.0 points, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals in his last six games and 9.5 points, 4.5 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in his last two. He had a career-high 13-point performance in the win over eventual Patriot League champion Lehigh. He made all four field goals and added three assists, three steals and two rebounds in the victory over the Mountain Hawks. Against Albany, Asafo-Adjei had six points, a career-high six assists and two rebounds in 27 minutes.
In 2010-11 (sophomore)
Asafo-Adjei started in 16 of the 27 games he played in overall, averaging 14.1 minutes per contest and registering 1.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.0 assists. Despite struggling from the floor (14-of-48, .292), he provided outstanding defense for the Big Red in the backcourt. He scored a career-high six points in a win over Delaware, along with four rebounds, four assists and a steal. The defensive specialist had a steal, a rebound and an assist in a victory at Albany and scored three points against both Seton Hall and St. Bonaventure. Asafo-Adjei recorded three points, two rebounds and two assists at Syracuse. He had six points against Columbia and notched seven points and two rebounds Harvard. Asafo-Adjei notched four points, five rebounds and two assists against Harvard at home and registered three points, two rebounds and two assists in the win at Penn.
In 2009-10 (freshman)
Asafo-Adjei played in 20 games off the bench as a freshman, averaging 0.5 points, 0.4 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. In 71 total minutes, he recorded 10 assists and just five turnovers. Asafo-Adjei had two points and three assists in the win over Clarkson and also notched three assists vs. Bryant. He nailed a 3-pointer in the home victory over Harvard.
At the Ensworth School
Asafo-Adjei was a two-time all-region selection at The Ensworth School, helping direct the team to a state title as a senior. A three-sport athlete (basketball, football and track and field), Asafo-Adjei was named to all-tournament teams at five different in-season tournaments, including capturing the Carolyn Dunstan Memorial Sportsmanship Award for the Naples Daily News Gulfshore Shootout.
Personal
Miles Atta Asafo-Adjei is the son of Emmanuel and Patience Asafo-Adjei and has an older brother and sister. Asafo-Adjei is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
