In 2012-13 (junior)
Cherry played in four games for a total of five minutes, scoring two points with a steal. He played two minutes against Stony Brook, picking up a steal in his first action of 2012-13. Cherry then scored his first collegiate point with a free throw against Princeton before hitting another free throw against Brown.

In 2011-12 (sophomore)
Cherry saw action in one contest off the bench.

In 2010-11 (freshman)
A walk-on, Cherry saw his first varsity action against Delaware with a short stint at the end of the contest. He played in five total contests, attempting two shots. Cherry had a steal at Princeton.

At Tampa Preparatory School
A McDonald's All-American nominee and academic all-state pick as a senior at Tampa Prep, Cherry was a three-time Class 2A all-state and all-county selection by the Tampa Tribune and St. Petersburg Times. He served as a team captain in each of his final two seasons.  Cherry led his team to a Final Four and a state runner-up finish in his junior and senior years. Cherry was two-time Top 25 player selection by the Tampa Bay Basketball Coaches Association and invited to compete in the Hillsborough County and East/ West All-Star Series. The four-year varsity player and three-year starter averaged 13 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game as a senior. As a junior, he averaged 14.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game and also averaged better than 2 steals per game during both his junior and senior seasons. He is one of the all-time winningest players in program history with a record of 100-19. He ended his career with 1,295 points and three State Final Four appearances in his four years.
