Mushovic Breaks Cornell's Career Digs Record in Volleyball's Loss to Princeton

Junior libero Megan Mushovic recorded 18 digs in Cornell's 3-0 loss to Princeton on Saturday afternoon to set a new school career record with 1,362. The Tigers improved to 3-0 against Ivy League competition with the win, while Cornell recorded its first conference loss to move to 3-1. Senior Emily Borman had a match-high 14 kills while hitting .462.

Defending Ivy League champions, Princeton (9-2 overall, 3-0 Ivy), took an early lead in the first set and continued on to a 25-15 win. Borman had four kills for Cornell (4-9 overall, 3-1 Ivy).

The two teams battled back and forth for points in the second set. Each time Cornell would take a slight lead, Princeton would regroup to tie the set back up. The Tigers slipped by the Big Red to take the second set, 27-25. Borman notched six kills in just eight attempts to hit .750 for the set. Mushovic recorded nine digs in the set to tie Cornell's career digs record.

In the third set, Princeton came out strong and played on to a 25-18 victory to win the match. Mushovic tallied six more digs to break the school record of 1,356 career digs that was previously held by Kelly Kramer (2002-05).

Borman averaged 3.57 kills per set for the weekend, while hitting .380. Freshman Kelly Hansen recorded a match-high four block assists to total 13 in her last two matches. Senior Hilary Holland had 28 assists and added eight digs.

The Tigers' trio of Lindsey Ensign, Parker Henritze and Cathryn Quinn each had 10 kills in the win. Bailey Robinson had a match-high 40 assists, while Hilary Ford led her team's back row with 17 digs.

The Big Red will play at Colgate Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Cornell will continue road play next weekend as it travels to Harvard and Dartmouth.
