ITHACA, N.Y.—The Big Red volleyball team lost to Yale, 3-0, Friday night in Newman Arena. Yale improved to 12-4 overall and 6-1 Ivy, while Cornell moved to 6-11 and 5-2 against the Ancient Eight. The Big Red was led defensively by junior libero Megan Mushovic with 23 digs.
The Bulldogs took the lead at the midway point of the first set and played on to a 25-16 victory. Yale's heavy-hitting ways continued in the second set to a 25-12 win to go up by two sets. Mushovic totaled 15 digs in the set. Yale sealed the match win with a 25-13 third set victory.
Freshman Kelly Hansen led the Big Red offensively with five kills, and senior captain Hilary Holland totaled 22 assists and eight digs.
Yale was led by Laurel Johnson with nine kills, while Alexis Crusey and Cat Dailey each added eight. Ally Mendenhall had a match-high 32 assists and Kelly Ozurovich totaled 21 digs.
Cornell will be back in action Saturday afternoon, facing Brown at 4 p.m in Newman Arena.
