ITHACA, N.Y.—The Binghamton volleyball team defeated the Big Red, 3-0, on Tuesday night. The Bearcats improved to 11-12 overall, while Cornell moved to 7-12. Junior libero Megan Mushovic led the Big Red defense with 21 digs.
Binghamton took an early lead in the first set and continued on to a 25-17 victory. The second set was tied at 23 all, and the Bearcats inched out to win the set. Erin McCarthy and Meagan Tatum each had five kills in the set, and Mushovic notched 10 digs. The two teams were tied again at 18 all in the third set, and Binghamton charged ahead to a 25-19 win.
Tatum totaled nine kills for Cornell, while Emily Borman added eight. Senior captain Hilary Holland recorded 29 assists and eight digs. Kelly Hansen notched three block assists.
Binghamton was led by Michelle McDonough with 17 kills and four blocks. Mercedes Montford added 11 kills. Brianna Strong and Jaclyn Strader each recorded 15 digs.
Cornell will hit the road this weekend, playing Princeton and Penn.
