ITHACA, N.Y.—The Big Red volleyball team heads to Storrs, Conn. this weekend to play at the UConn Toyota Classic. Cornell will take on Connecticut on Friday night, and will play Temple and Maine on Saturday. Livestats will be available for all three contests.

At the Helm 
Deitre Collins-Parker, the Wendy Schaenen '79 Head Coach of Volleyball, returns for her fifth season with the Big Red. Collins-Parker has a 63-43 overall record with Cornell and has led the Big Red to three Ivy League titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances.

Looking at the Huskies 
Connecticut enters the weekend after defeating Fairfield, 3-0, in its home-opener. The Huskies bring a 7-3 record into the tournament and are led by Jordan Kirk and Chauntay Mickens, who average 2.76 kills/set. Lorelle Schaus tops the Connecticut defense with .86 blocks/set. 
Taking on the Owls 
Temple will play Maine on Friday night before facing the Big Red on Saturday morning. The Owls have a 4-5 record coming into the weekend, and in their last match defeated Princeton, 3-2. Jacqueline Cowden led Temple at the net with 10 blocks, while Yun Yi Zhang totaled 16 kills. Zhang leads the Owls offense averaging 4.44 kills per set. Ariel Pierre has averaged 4.44 digs/set in the back row for Temple, while Cayleigh Ashman leads at the net with 1.26 blocks/set. 
Facing the Black Bears 
Maine will play both Temple and Connecticut to open the tournament before taking on the Big Red Saturday night. In their last match, the Black Bears defeated Buffalo, 3-1. Maine is led by Lindsay Allman with 2.85 kills/set and 3.21 digs/set. Laura Goettsch averages 2.44 kills per set, while Brittany Kiehl averages a block per set at the net. 
Where We Rank… 
Junior middle blocker Juliana Rogers ranks fifth among the Ivy League in kills per set with 3.30, while sophomore Erin McCarthy is eighth with 2.90. Senior captain Hilary Holland sits in fourth with 8.90 assists per set, and libero Megan Mushovic leads the league in digs with 5.20 per set. 
Oh What a Career… 
Junior libero Megan Mushovic has 1,114 digs and counting for her Big Red career. Mushovic currently ranks fifth in the career record books, and only needs five more to take over the fourth spot. 
Fresh Faces 
The Big Red added six members to its roster as the class of 2012. The class hails from six different states and includes two outside hitters, two middle blockers, a setter and a defensive specialist. 
Ivy Awards 
Cornell returns two All-Ivy honorees to its roster this season. Libero Megan Mushovic earned first-team All-Ivy after leading the league with 6.16 digs per set. Mushovic earned second-team honors as a rookie. Middle blocker Emily Borman led the Big Red with 1.08 blocks per set, which placed her fourth in the Ancient Eight, earning her second-team honors. 
She's Our Captain 
Senior Hilary Holland will serve as the Big Red's captain this season. Cornell's veteran setter will be looked to help the Big Red in all aspects of play. Holland notched a career-high 50 assists against Harvard on Oct. 12, 2007 when she registered a triple double. She also tallied a career-high 10 kills and 10 digs. 
Nationally Speaking 
Megan Mushovic's 6.16 digs per match last season ranked her eighth in the nation. In her sophomore season, she also led the country in digs in a match with 50 against Harvard on Oct. 12, 2007. 
Looking Ahead… 
The Big Red will open a three-match home stand on Wednesday, Sept. 24 when it will play host to Syracuse for a 6:30 p.m. match. Cornell will then face Robert Morris and Columbia at the Cornell Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 27.
