ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell University men's basketball team won its seventh straight contest as it defeated Columbia, 83-72, this evening at Newman Arena. With the win, the Big Red improves to 12-6 on the year and 2-0 in the Ivy League.
All five Cornell starters scored in double-figures, with
Alex Tyler matching a career-high with 19 points to go along with seven rebounds.
Geoff Reeves and
Louis Dale scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds apiece, while
Ryan Wittman chipped in 10 points.
Jeff Foote fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 13 points and a game-high nine boards.
The Big Red shot a blistering 49.0 percent from the floor overall, but just 29.4 percent from 3-point range. Cornell also held the slight edge in rebounds, 38-35.
Columbia (5-11, 0-2) was led by Noruwa Agho with a game-high 24 points, but Asenso Ampim was the only other Lion in double-figures with 10 points.
The Lions shot 41.3 percent from the floor and used an impressive 57.1 percent performance from beyond the arc to stay in the contest.
