ITHACA, N.Y. --
Max Constant scored 12 goals and the Big Red rallied from deficits at the end of each of the first three chukkers to top Connecticut 19-14 on Sunday afternoon in Storrs, Conn. Cornell improved to 3-0 on the season with the triumph.
The Huskies took the early lead on the Big Red lineup of
Dan Grew,
Max Constant and
Branden Van Loon, who found themselves playing catch-up all day long. UConn led after 4-3 after one. The home team kept it going in the second and extended their lead to three at 9-6 heading into the half.
Connor Pardell replaced
Dan Grew and Cornell tied things up at 10 before seeing the Huskies
pull back out to a 12-10 lead. Cornell once again tied it at 12, but Connecticut took the momentum into the final chukker by scoring seconds before the third ended to keep a slim 13-12 advantage. The teams traded goals early in the fourth before Cornell took control by scoring the next six goals to bring home a hard-earned 19-14 victory.
Constant led all scorers with 12 goals, while Van Loon notched four, Pardell chipped in two and Grew netted one.
The Big Red will return to action on Friday, Oct. 30, when it takes on the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
