CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—The Big Red women's squash team lost 8-1 to Penn in the Howe Cup of the CSA National Championships. Cornell, ranked No. 6, picked up its win by Clare Berner at the No. 9 spot against the No. 3 ranked Quakers.
Berner defeated Anita Sellers, 9-1, 9-0, 9-6. At the No. 2 spot, Shivangi Paranjpe won her first game over Sydney Scott, 10-8, but the Quaker came back to win the next three 9-3, 9-2, 9-3.
The Big Red's Alex Cornett at the No. 5 spot and Annie Ritter in the No. 8 position were edged out by their opponents in hard-fought five-game matches.
Cornell will take on No. 7 Stanford at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
