ITHACA, N.Y. -- Keir Ross and Riley Nash scored a pair of goals as the Cornell men's hockey team closed out the regular-season home schedule with a 5-2 victory over Union on Saturday night at Lynah Rink. The win clinches a first-round bye for the Big Red, which will return to Ithaca for an ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series on March 13-15 against an opponent to be determined.

Nash had a huge game in sending the senior class of 2009 off in style, collecting two goals and adding a pair of assists in helping the Big Red to its 17th win of the season. Ross scored the first two goals of his Cornell career in the game, while Evan Barlow added a goal and a pair of assists in his final home regular-season game.

After Cornell built a 3-0 lead in the first period, Union cut into the deficit by scoring a pair of goals, one at the end of the first period and one midway through the second, but the Big Red added a goal in the second period and capped the scoring with Barlow's goal midway through the third period.

Cornell closed out the night 2-for-4 on the power play, while Union converted on two of its five power play opportunities. Cornell goaltender Ben Scrivens picked up 29 saves in taking the win, while Dan DiLeo came on in relief for just his second career appearance, stopping the only shot he faced in the final 1:25 of the game. Union netminder Corey Milan stopped 14 Cornell shots in taking the loss.
