KISSIMMEE, Fla.—The Big Red softball team continued its winning ways at the Rebel Spring Games on Friday with wins over Fairleigh Dickinson and Hartford. Senior
Jessy Berkey hit two home runs in the second game to drive in five runs. Cornell moves to 17-5 for the season with six-straight wins.
Cornell opened the day with a 2-0 win over FDU.
Ali Tomlinson recorded the win with seven strike outs and only allowed three hits.
The Big Red was up 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth with runners on. Junior
Ashley Garvey grabbed a suicide squeeze bunt to make a double play to allow Cornell to retain its lead.
Against Hartford, Cornell won, 9-5.
Elizabeth Dalrymple pitched for Cornell with 10 strikeouts and only allowed two earned runs.
Hartford scored two of its runs in the third inning on numerous Big Red errors.
Berkey had two home runs in the game, driving in a five runs with a two-run and a three-run homer.
Cornell will wrap up its Florida play on Saturday by taking on Rider and Wisconsin-Green Bay.
