Cornell could only muster up four hits offensively, with Scott Hardinger, Jadd Schmeltzer, Casey Brett and Adam Jacobs each picking up one. Schmeltzer and Matt Langseth both had a run batted in for the Big Red in the contest.

Hill surrendered a two-run home run and an RBI double in the first inning as La Salle jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Cornell got a run back in the second inning as Mickey Brodsky walked, move to second on a wild pitch and third on a balk before scoring on Langseth's sacrifice fly to right field.

La Salle added to the lead with another three runs in the fifth inning, with a double and a pair of singles chasing Hill from the game in favor of Taylor Wood. Wood would work the next inning and two-thirds, allowing an unearned run on three hits while striking out three. David Rochefort came on to finish the final two innings, fanning three Explorer batters.

Cornell's second run came in the eighth inning as Hardinger hit a one-out single to center, then moved to second when Brodsky walked. Schmeltzer then lined a double to left-center to score Hardinger, but Brodsky and Hardinger would be stuck in scoring position as Langseth grounded out to end the rally.

Cornell returns to action on Sunday, taking on Villanova in a 12:15 contest in Philadelphia.
