POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Catherine White scored the lone goal of the game for the Cornell women's hockey team as the Big Red dropped a 2-1 contest at league-leading Clarkson on Saturday afternoon at Cheel Arena in Potsdam, N.Y. Cornell remains in second place in the ECAC Hockey standings and trails the Golden Knights by four points after falling for just the second time this season in league play.

Laura Fortino added an assist on the Big Red's goal, a power-play tally in the second period, as Cornell knotted the score at one before Clarkson would win it with a goal early in the third period. Amanda Mazzotta stopped 16 shots in taking the loss, while Clarkson's Lauren Dahm stopped 14 shots in the victory. Clarkson got goals from Danielle Skirrow and Brittany Mulligan, while Mulligan added one assist and Kali Gillanders assisted on both Golden Knight goals.

Cornell (10-8-5, 9-2-5 ECAC Hockey) fell behind on Skirrow's goal with just under three minutes to play in the first period, but White equalized in the closing seconds of the second period with her seventh goal of the season, taking a pass from Fortino and putting a shot past Dahm to knot the game at one. The tie would last until the 3:13 mark of the third period when Mulligan scored at even strength to lift Clarkson to the win.

Cornell coach Doug Derraugh pulled Mazzotta for the extra skater for the final 1:26, but Cornell could not get a shot off with the extra attacker, as Clarkson (19-5-3, 13-1-1) sealed the victory.

Cornell returns to action on Friday when it takes on Quinnipiac in a 7 p.m. contest at Lynah Rink. The Big Red holds a three-point advantage over a three-way tie for third-place among Harvard, Princeton and Rensselaer, with six games remaining.
