Bouraee Earns Second-Team Scholar All-America Honors

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell senior Matt Bouraee was named to the second team Scholar All-America squad by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Bouraee was one of two Ivy League players to be named to the squad.

Bouraee led the Big Red in scoring as a senior, tallying 16 points on a team-best five goals and sharing the team lead with six assists. He scored two game-winning goals, including an overtime strike on Nov. 14 against Columbia in his final collegiate contest. His goal against the Lions gave the Big Red its first season at or above the .500 mark since the 2001 season.

Bouraee finished his Cornell career among the school's leaders in points, finishing with 48 points to tie him for seventh all-time. He recorded 19 career goals, good for 11th all-time, while his 10 career assists are also tied for 11th all-time.

A natural resources major, Bouraee posted a 3.46 grade point average through six semesters at Cornell. He earned second-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors as well as a spot on the All-Ivy League First Team and the fall Academic All-Ivy League team. Bouraee also was named second-team All-Northeast District by the NSCAA.

In addition, Bouraee was joined by teammates Brett Sumpio, Matt Devitt and Scott Brody in earning Scholar All-East Region honors. Bouraee garnered a spot on the first team, with Brody, Devitt and Sumpio all earning a spot on the honorable mention list.
