PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Brown's Thomas McNamara scored a goal in each half as the Cornell men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 contest to the 14th-ranked Bears at Stevenson Field on Saturday night. Cornell goalkeeper Rick Pflasterer stopped six shots in the loss for the Big Red.

Cornell (4-6-4, 0-3-1 Ivy) held the Bears (9-1-3, 2-1-1) off the scoreboard until the 26th minute when McNamara finished off a cross from Taylor Gorman to give Brown the 1-0 lead they would take into the half. In the second, McNamara added his second strike of the night 20 minutes in, with Rob Medairos tallying an assist on the goal.

Cornell was out-shot on the night, 19-12, and conceded 13 corner kicks while taking just six, only the fourth time this season that the Big Red allowed more corner than it took. Pflasterer made three saves in each half in taking the loss, while Brown goalkeeper Paul Grandstrand earned the shutout victory, making six saves of his own.

The Big Red returns home on Saturday, Oct. 30, when it takes on Princeton in a 7 p.m. contest at Berman Field.
