ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell spent nearly the final 30 minutes on the offensive, but the Big Red couldn't get the equalizer and No. 20 Princeton escaped Berman Field with a 1-0 win on Saturday evening. The Tigers improved to 10-3-1 and remained unbeaten in Ivy play at 5-0, while Cornell slipped to 4-7-4 (0-4-1 Ivy).

Matt Sanner scored the game's only goal after the ball landed at his feet after a deflection off the goalie and blasted a shot from directly in front of the cage in the 59th minute. It was the only goal the Tigers would need, and it held off a late surge by Cornell that included one shot that hit the crossbar and another that was saved at the top of the cage.

Princeton held a narrow 11-9 edge in shots in a physical contest that featured 30 fouls, but Cornell earned eight corners to the Tigers' five, including a decisive 5-1 edge in the second half. Scott Brody made three saves in going the distance in goal for Cornell, while Sean Lynch posted the shutout with three saves of his own.
