Sprint Football Cruises To 33-12 Win At Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Cornell sprint football team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 33-12 victory over Princeton on Friday evening at Princeton Stadium. Alex Perilstein kicked four field goals and Cornell was able to empty its bench early with Collegiate Sprint Football League play around the corner.

The Big Red jumped out to a 33-6 lead and never looked back, limiting the Tigers to eight yards rushing on 30 attempts and gave up 123 total yards.

Cornell's balanced offensive attack piled up 320 total yards on offense and ran 75 plays to just 48 for the Tigers. In all, Cornell possessed the ball for 35:33.

On the ground, five different Cornell players had at least 20 yards with both Elliot Corey and Nick Perez finiding the end zone. Brendan Miller also threw for a touchdown, while Perilstein booted 4-of-5 field goals, including a 40-yarder.

Defensively, the Big Red intercepted three passes and recovered a fumble, while making 12 stops behind the line. Both Kevin Schmidt and Clayton Hemminger made three tackles for loss.

Cornell will play its first home game of 2010 when first-year Sprint program Post University visits Schoellkopf Field on Friday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
