ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's Soccer Team is thrilled to announce its participation in Go4theGoal Foundation's “Lace-Up 4 Pediatric Cancer” fundraising and awareness campaign. Many of the Big Red players will be wearing NEON Yellow laces during their game on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. against Brown at Berman Field.
Cornell has also announced that this game will be the annual “Break the Berman Record” contest in which fans are urged to attend and break last year's attendance record of 961. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 250 students. Proceeds from the game will benefit Go4theGoal Foundation. Laces are available for purchase at Shop G4G on the Go4theGoal web site by

"We are amazed at the response and support we have received from college and university athletic departments and high schools representing all types of sports teams across the country," said Beth Stefanacci, Go4theGoal's executive director. " Athletes are lining up to swap out their regular shoelaces for G4G's NEON Yellow laces to raise awareness for pediatric cancer. We are grateful to Cornell Athletics for dedicating this game to Go4theGoal.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Lace-Up 4 Pediatric Cancer for our upcoming game on Saturday,” said Joe Schneck, assistant men's soccer coach at Cornell. “Honestly, we just wanted to support them in any way we could for the great work they are already doing. While it is a small thing, we are hoping that it makes a difference and want to thank our alumni and friends at Cornell Soccer who stepped up and made it possible.”
"What started as a simple idea by a member of our family has become a staple of Go4theGoal's fundraising efforts, helping us continue our mission of supporting children battling cancer – and toward the ultimate goal: curing pediatric cancer," Stefanacci said.
Besides supporting a good cause, Saturday's game features the No. 25 Big Red trying to maintain its position atop the Ivy League against a Brown team that is 2-1 in the conference standings.
