ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's polo team will open a home-and-home series with regional foe Connecticut by heading to Storrs on Sunday, Oct. 30 for a 2 p.m. matchup with the Huskies. The two teams have met in the Northeast Regional Championships in each of the last seven seasons, with Cornell winning six, including four straight.

The Big Red brings a 1-1 record into the matchup after falling to defending national champion Virginia 17-10 last weekend in Charlottesville, Va. Cornell drilled Skidmore in the season opener on the road, posting a shutout in a 44-0 win in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Cornell and Connecticut meet several times annually as the top programs in the Northeast region. Dating back to 1978, Cornell holds a decisive 51-19-1 edge in the series against the Huskies. Last season, UConn struck first with an 18-17 victory over the Big Red in Oxley, but Cornell took the last two meetings, a 22-10 contest in Storrs three weeks later and a narrow 13-11 victory in the finals of the regional tournament in Ithaca.
