STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Cornell men's tennis team dropped its second straight contest, falling to Penn State this afternoon, 5-2, at the Penn State Indoor Tennis Center in State College, Pa. With the loss, the No. 64 Big Red falls to 6-3 on the season, while the Nittany Lions improve to 4-2.
Cornell opened the doubles matches with a victory at No. 2 by
Jonathan Jaklitsch and
Evan Bernstein but PSU notched wins and No. 1 and No. 3 to take the early 1-0 lead.
A 6-3, 6-1 victory by Jaklitsch over Bryan Welnetz knotted the match at 1-1, but the Nittany picked up victories at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 singles to seal the victory.
Evan Bernstein earned a 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 win at No. 5 to account for the 5-2 final.
