Men's Polo Rallies For 9-8 Shootout Win Over Kentucky

2/28/2011 9:26:41 AM

ITHACA, N.Y. -- It was comeback weekend in Kentucky, as the Cornell men's polo team had to come from behind, much like the women did, for a 9-8 shootout victory over Kentucky on Saturday evening in Lexington, Ky.

In a low scoring affair, the Big Red never trailed by more than two goals, but were behind 4-3 at the half. The third again proved to be Cornell's chukker as they outscored the Wildcats 4-1 to take a 7 – 5 lead into the fourth. Kentucky fought back to tie the game late in the fourth to send it to a shootout. It took only one round for the Big Red to secure the victory at 9-8.  David Dunstan replaced Connor Pardell for the weekend due to a personal conflict and played well scoring once and causing one pony goal. Max Costant tallied four, including the winning shootout goal, while Branden Van Loon scored twice.
