ITHACA, N.Y. -- Rain in the forecast in the Mid-Atlantic region has forced several changes to the Cornell baseball team's schedule this weekend in Philadelphia. Cornell is still scheduled to play Temple, St. Joseph's and Villanova in a single game each day this weekend.
Friday's contest against Temple has been moved to LaSalle's DeVincent Field and will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday's game against St. Joseph's will be played at Campbell's Field in Camden, N.J., and will begin at 1 p.m. The weekend series closes on Sunday with Cornell taking on Villanova in a 1 p.m. contest at Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
The Big Red enters the weekend looking for its first victory of the season after dropping four contests last weekend, falling twice to Rider and twice to No. 8 Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. As a team, Cornell hit .177 last weekend in its first action of the year, led by
Ben Swinford's and
Mickey Brodsky's .267 mark. On the mound, Cornell pitchers combined for a 7.91 earned-run average, with three of the four weekend starters going at least five innings. Seniors
Jadd Schmeltzer and
Corey Pappel had the best outings, both allowing four runs over five innings.
