EMMITSBURG, Md. -- The Cornell softball team evened its record with a doubleheader sweep and a tournament win at the Mount St. Mary's Inviational, knocking off the host school 16-10 in a slugfest early, then topping reigning Patriot League champion Bucknell 4-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Big Red ended its spring break trip with an 11-11-1 record.
Kristen Towne went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI to help the Big Red win a shootout in game one, as
Marissa Amiraian and
Jenny Edwards also collected three hits and
Erin Belles went 2-for-3 with her third home run in two days. Cornell pounded out 16 hits and drew 10 walks as the offense continued to surge. Included were six extra-base hits.
Cornell pounded out 11 hits in the nightcap, with Belles going 3-for-3 with three RBI, while Amiraian added another three-hit day. Edwards also was 2-for-5 and scored twice.
Elizabeth Dalrymple had another dominant start, surrendering four hits and one run while striking out seven in 7.0 innings of work.
