ALBANY, N.Y. -- Cornell pitching couldn't do much against the Albany bats, surrendering 24 hits to the Great Danes in a doubleheader sweep at in the state capital on Tuesday afternoon. Albany took game one 13-1 in five innings, then topped the Big Red 7-0 in the nightcap. Albany improved to 14-18 with the sweep, while the Big Red fell to 16-16-1.
Cornell's offense wasn't able to generate much either, collecting just eight hits in the two games. Marissa Amiraian, who was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week earlier in the day, was 2-for-5 on the day. Jenny Edwards had an RBI double in game one to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the third, but Albany answered with a 12-run bottom of the inning. The Great Danes scored all seven of its runs in game two in the first two innings. Jenna Stoller came out of the bullpen to allow just two hits and no runs in the final 4.0 innings of work, striking out six.
