Game 1 Box Score (Cornell 9, Dartmouth 5)
Game 2 Box Score (Dartmouth 9, Cornell 6)

HANOVER, N.H. -- The Cornell softball team split a doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Dartmouth, topping the Big Green 9-5 in game one before untimely errors and timely Dartmouth hitting doomed the Big Red in the nightcap, 9-6. Cornell moved to 15-13-1 (4-2 Ivy), while Dartmouth's record is now 10-13 (3-3 Ivy).

Game 1
The Cornell softball team banged out 12 hits and held off a late Dartmouth rally to collect a 9-5 win in game one of Friday's doubleheader.

Elizabeth Dalrymple allowed five hits and zero runs in her 6.1 innings of work, striking out 10 without issuing a walk. Freshman Christina Villalon and senior Marissa Amiraian each were 3-for-3 at the plate, with Villalon slamming a home run. Both scored twice as well. Jenny Edwards was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Cornell brought an 8-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth, only to have the home team strike for five runs in the frame to get within three runs. Dalrymple, who was lifted prior to the inning, re-entered and shut the door on the home team by striking out two in the final 1.1 innings of work.

A two-run single by Edwards was the big blow as part of a four-run second. The Big Red added a single run in the third when Villalon slammed her third home run of the season, and Erin Keene continued the team's two-out offensive surge with a two-run single in the fourth to extend the lead to 7-0. Katie Watts drove in a run on a fielder's choice in the sixth to move the lead to 8-0, but Dartmouth wasn't finished.

Cornell lifted Dalrymple in the bottom the sixth and the Big Green bats came alive against the Big Red bullpen. The home team slammed three home runs in the inning, clawing back within 8-5. Dalrymple re-entered the game and didn't allow a hit over the final 1.1 innings to close out the contest.

The visitors got a run back in the seventh to extend the lead back to 9-5, and despite the leadoff batter in the seventh reaching on an error, Dalrymple was able to retire the next three hitters to end the contest.

Game 2
Cornell jumped out to a 4-0 lead and collected 13 hits, but Dartmouth's offense was able to explode for five runs in the third inning and four more in the fifth to take a 9-6 victory in game two. All nine runs (five earned) came against Big Red ace Elizabeth Dalrymple, including four home runs.

Senior Marissa Amiraian was 3-for-5 with three runs scored, while Christina Villalon was 3-for-3, ending her day with hits in each of her six at bats. Dalrymple struck out 12 in her six innings of work, but took the loss after surrendering eight hits, including the four homers.
