ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's and women's polo teams will square off with Southern Methodist University this weekend for the first-ever meetings between the programs. The Big Red men will face the Mustangs on Friday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m., while the women will play on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Oxley Equestrian Center.
Two of the most storied programs in college polo history will face the newest entry on the national scene. The men's program at Cornell has claimed 11 national titles, 24 national runner-up finishes and 18 Eastern Regional crowns, while the women have 13 national titles, 15 runner-up finishes and 18 regional championships.
The defending national championship women's team are 5-3 and coming off a break of more than a month since its last contest, a 24-6 victory over Yale. The men's team is also 5-3 and are coming off a 19-3 triumph against the Bulldogs.
