CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The Cornell men's polo team fell behind 9-2 at the half and defending national champion Virginia never looked back in taking home a 15-6 decision on Saturday evening. The Big Red slipped to 1-1 on the season.
The first chukker started with two quick goals by UVa before the Big Red got on the board. Cornell managed to keep the deficit to 4-2 after one. In the second, the Cavaliers broke it open as they held Cornell scoreless while adding to its lead, taking a 9-2 advantage into the break. The Cavaliers expanded its lead to nine by the end of the third (13-4) before playing the home team even in the fourth. Cornell's scoring was split with two goals apiece for
