ITHACA, N.Y. -- After dropping a contest at defending national champion Virginia, the Cornell men's polo team completes its season-opening three-game road swing at Connecticut on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. The game will be a rematch of last season's regional final, won by the Huskies.

The Big Red brings a 1-1 record into the matchup, topping SKidmore 19-17 in a tight opener before falling in a road game to the Cavaliers 15-6. Branden Van Loon and Nick Stieg lead the team with eight goals apiece through two contests for head coach David Eldredge, who has amassed an impressive 386-163-8 record (.700) in his 27 years on the sidelines with the men.

Cornell and Connecticut meet several times annually as the top programs in the Northeast region. Dating back to 1978, Cornell holds a decisive 52-21-1 edge in the series against the Huskies. UConn won two of the three meetings a season ago, including a 22-21 triumph in the USPA Northeast Intercollegiate Regional final. The Big Red held a six-goal lead heading into the fourth chukker before the Huskies rallied for the late win.
