STORRS, Conn. -- Cornell had a late kick, outscoring Connecticut 15-4 after halftime and 10-1 in the fourth chukker to claim a 26-11 win over the Huskies on Sunday afternoon. The Big Red improved to 2-1 with the win.
Nick Stieg,
Hakan Karabey and Alex Langlois started for the Big Red. Though Cornell controlled most of the action, it could not find the goal in the first and UConn was able to squeeze out a 5-4 lead after one.
Nik Feldman replaced Stieg in the second and Cornell quickly took the lead 1:30 minutes into the chukker. The Big Red would extend that lead to 11-7 at the end of the half.
Feldman stayed up for the third and was joined by Stieg and
Branden Van Loon. The Big Red controlled the chukker, but only won it 5-3 against a game Husky squad. Heading into the fourth, Cornell was up 16-10. The boys kicked it into high gear in the fourth and blew the game open outscoring their opponents 10-1 to take the 26-11 victory.
