ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell polo teams will host the annual Bill Field Invitational beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at Oxley Equestrian Center. They will welcome many of the nation's best teams in one college polo's oldest and most esteemed tournaments.

Featuring 13 games over the span of five days, the men's tournament field includes Cornell, Colorado State, Southern Methodist, Skidmore and Virginia, while the Big Red women will host Colorado State, Kentucky, Massachuestts, Skidmore and Virginia.

The men fell in the semifinals a year ago to Colorado State, but have jumped out to a 4-1 mark already this season. Cornell has won three straight, scoring at least 20 goals in a pair of wins over Connecticut and one over the Maryland Polo Club. The Big Red opens on Friday against an opponent to be determined. It will face either Virginia if it loses its game on Thursday evening, or the loser of the Colorado State vs. Skidmore/SMU game. Head coach David Eldredge has amassed an impressive 389-163-8 record (.701) in his 27 years on the sidelines with the men entering the weekend.

The women will play both Friday against Massachusetts at 5:15 p.m. and on Saturday against Kentucky at 5 p.m., with the finals being held on Sunday at 10 a.m. Sporting a perfect 6-0 mark this year, the women have outscored opponents 168-34 The perfect 6-0 start brings Eldredge's record to 430-119-17 record (.774) with the women. Like the men, the women also dropped a semifinal contest last year at the Filed Invite, as Kentucky snapped the Big Red's 47-match home win streak with a 19-18 shootout win.
