THE MATCHUP: The Cornell women's basketball team will be in search of its third win in its last four games when it plays host to Morgan State on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 1 p.m. at Newman Arena in Bartels Hall. The game will serve as the final contest of the fall semester as the Big Red will enter into a 17-day exam break. Live video of the game (pay-per-view) will be available on RedCast, while live audio is available at RLMSports.net and live stats can be viewed at CornellBigRed.com.

THE SERIES VS. MORGAN STATE: This will be the second meeting between the two programs on the hardwood, with Morgan State winning the first meeting 66-60 on Dec. 1, 2006 in the first round of the Cornell Classic exactly six years ago.

BOUT MORGAN STATE: Cornell and the Bears have met just once on the hardwood, as Morgan State topped the Big Red 66-60 in the first round of the Cornell Classic on Dec. 1, 2006, exactly six years ago. Biance Jarrett has carried much of the scoring load, averaging 17.3 points to go along with 3.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2. 5 steals per game as the squad's lone double figure scorers, though three other players average between 7.1 and 9.9 points per game. Morgan State is shooting just 34 percent from the floor and 25 percent from 3-point range, while being outrebounded by 10 per game. Morgan State's last win came against Ivy League foe Columbia, a 60-51 victory on Nov. 23. The team was picked to finish 12th in the MEAC preseason poll. Head coach Donald Beasley is in his eighth season coaching at his alma mater.

CORNELL VS. THE MEAC: Cornell has a 5-6 all-time record against the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, including 0-1 against Morgan State. The Big Red has faced Bethune-Cookman (0-1), Coppin State (2-3), Delaware State (2-1), Maryland Eastern-Shore (1-0) and Morgan State (0-1), while never having met Florida A&M, Hampton, Howard, Norfolk State, North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central, Savannah State and South Carolina State. Coach Smith is 1-3 all-time against MEAC teams.

A CORNELL WIN OVER MORGAN STATE WOULD:
• improve the Big Red's record to 5-3.
• even Cornell's home record at 2-2.
• even the all-time series at 1-1.
• make Cornell 6-6 all-time against MEAC teams.
• improve Coach Smith to 2-3 against the MEAC.

LAST TIME VS. THE BEARS:
• Despite leading for the majority of the first half, the Big Red was unable to overcome an early second half run by Morgan State, as the Big Red fell to the visiting Lady Bears, 66-60, in the opening round of the Cornell Classic at Newman Arena on Dec. 1, 2006.
• Jeomi Maduka registered a double-double with 12 points and 17 rebounds, to go along with a team-high four assists and two steals.
• Kayleen Fitzsimmons also registered 12 points, while handing out three assists and Gretchen Gregg scored a season-high nine points.

• Whitney Johnson rounded out the top scorers for the Lady Bears with 10 points.

100 WINS AND COUNTING: Head Coach Dayna Smith is already the winningest coach in Cornell history, and she reached the 100-win mark for her career with the team's victory over Manhattan. She has since added to that and has 101 career coaching wins.

UP NEXT: After a 17-day break for final exams, the Big Red returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 18 when it visits Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as part of a two-game swing through Texas.
