The Big Red lead was extended to as many as 14 (21-7) with 8:35 remaining in the half, but Dartmouth quickly got back in the game. The visitors went on a 16-4 run to crawl within 25-23 with 1:33 left in the half, but Cornell went into the locker room with a four-point advantage (27-23) after a steal by
Stephanie Long led to a breakout layup by Lane at the buzzer, the last of Dartmouth's 14 first half turnovers.

Long found Fitzpatrick for a tough jumper that hit every part of the rim before going down to put the Big Red up 46-45. cornell rebounded a Dartmouth miss and was sent to the line, but Lyman missed the front end of a 1-and-1. Dartmouth turned it back over and Fitzpatrick was sent to the line. After hitting her first to make the deficit two for the Big Green, her second missed the mark.
