ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's polo team jumped out to a four-goal lead in the first chukker and held it throughout, topping Texas A&M 22-16 on Friday evening at Oxley Equestrian Center. The win improved the Big Red's record to 8-6 and snapped a two-game losing streak.

The Aggies came to town for Cornell's last match before Spring Break. The Big Red was hoping to improve upon its tough second half showing against the Kentucky Wildcats and they did just that. The Aggies scored first, but Cornell responded with two quick goals. Texas A&M rallied back before Cornell started to take control. By the end of the first chukker, the Big Red was ahead 8-4. The Aggies fought tough in the second but Cornell increased its lead to 13-7 at the half. Texas A&M responded with a good third to bring Cornell's lead back down to four (17-13). The Aggies got the deficit down to three (18-15), but Cornell answered with three goals to extend the margin to six and after trading goals the final tally would be 22- 16 in favor of Cornell. Nik Feldman led the way with 11 goals, Branden Van Loon had six and Nick Stieg scored three in the second half after Connor Pardell had two in the first half.

Cornell will compete for the Northeast Regional title from March 29-April 2.
