ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's polo team climbed over the .500 mark for the first time this season by pulling away from Kentucky for a 26-10 victory on Saturday evening at Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red improved to 3-2 on the year and won its third straight contest.
Kentucky was able to get on the board first, but the Big Red scored the next four and took a lead they would never relinquish. By the end of the first chukker it was 5-2 with the Big Red in the lead. Kentucky changed game tactics and slowed things down a bit in the second, which proved effective as the Wildcats stayed even and entered the half down just 9-6. Cornell adjusted in the third and broke the game open by winning the chukker 7-3 to head into the fourth leading 16-9. Cornell ran away from the Wildcats in the fourth and were never challenged.
Nik Feldman tallied 12 goals,
Nicholas Stieg had nine,
Ignacio Masias Uranga netted four and Cornell was credited with one penalty goal.
