HEAD COACH ROB KOLL
Cornell head coach Rob Koll is in his 21st season at Cornell (232-79-5, .742; 91-8-1 Ivy, .915) ... he is the David R. Dunlop '59 Head Coach of Wrestling at Cornell ... the all-time winningest wrestling coach in program history, Koll has guided the Big Red to 11 straight Ivy League titles (14 overall), seven consecutive EIWA crowns and seven top five NCAA team finishes, including second twice (2010, 2011) ... he was the 2005 NWCA Division I Coach of the Year and the Dan Gable Coach of the Year ... his wrestlers have won 11 national titles with 49 All-Americans and 42 individual EIWA champions.
STORY LINES
The Cornell wrestling team will compete at the 2013 Grapple at the Garden on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Coming off a second consecutive New York State Intercollegiate championship, the Big Red will be among many of the nation's top teams competing in the World's Most Famous Arena in a celebration of wrestling. Cornell will face Maryland at 10 a.m. and seventh-ranked Illinois at noon.

Returning NCAA All-Americans Nahshon Garrett (third at 125 pounds) and Mike Nevinger (fifth at 141 pounds) are expected to lead the lineup along with returning NCAA qualifiers Chris Villalonga (149), Jace Bennett (197) and Stryker Lane (HWT). Freshmen Mark Grey, Brian Realbuto and Gabe Dean are all among the top 10 wrestlers in their respective weight classes.

The Big Red will be out for its first win at the event after suffering a pair of dual meet losses a year ago at the inaugural event, falling to Missouri (L, 22-12) and Oklahoma State (L, 21-16). Other teams competing at MSG this year are Army, Bloomsburg, Boston University, Drexel, George Mason, Hofstra, NYU, Penn, Princeton, Rutgers and Stevens, and as well as men's club teams from Stony Brook and Westchester CC .

Head coach Rob Koll has built a powerhouse that has won 11 straight Ivy League titles, seven consecutive EIWA crowns and has four NCAA top-five team finishes in a row and nine top-10 finishes in the last 11 years. With five starters who qualified for NCAAs a year ago returning, as well as one of the top recruiting classes in the country, Cornell wrestling looks to reach all of those lofty goals yet again.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
• Cornell will be competing in the second annual Grapple at the Garden and will be looking for its first dual win after loss to Missouri and Oklahoma State at Madison Square Garden last season.
• The dual with Illinois could pit a matchup of 1 vs. 2 at  125 pounds, where top-ranked Jesse Delgado of Illinois and second-ranked Nahshon Garrett of Cornell are set to square off, one of five bouts between ranked wrestlers in the Big Red-Illini dual.
• Other potential ranked matchups (according to Intermat) include #10 Mark Grey (Cornell) vs. #11 Zane Richards (Illinois) at 133 pounds, #14 Chris Villalonga (C) vs. #15 Caleb Ervin (I) at 149 pounds, #12 Brian Ralbuto (C) vs. #15 Zac Brunson (I) at 157 pounds, #3 Jimmy Sheptock (Maryland) vs. #12 Gabe Dean (C) at 184 pounds, and both #7 Mario Gonzalez (I) and #11 Christian Boley (M) vs. #14 Jace Bennett (C) at 197 pounds.
