COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Former Big Red men's soccer player Scott Palguta '05 has been named the assistant coach at Colorado College, head coach Horst Richardson announced on Friday.

“I am absolutely thrilled to join the coaching staff of the Colorado College men's soccer program,” Palguta said in a statement. “It has been a long-standing goal of mine to transition into collegiate coaching upon retirement from the professional game, and I can think of no better place to start than CC.”

Palguta was a two-time All-Ivy League selection at Cornell. He had seven goals as a defender – including three game-winners – in his Big Red career to go along with three assists. He played in 16 games all four seasons at Cornell.

During his time in Ithaca, Palguta also played for Cape Cod of the USL Premier Development League from 2002 to 2004, winning back-to-back national championships with the Crusaders in 2002 and 2003. After college, he was drafted by the Rochester Rhinos in the second round of the USL First Division College Draft. With the Rhinos, he won the league's Rookie of the Year award in 2005.
