ITHACA, N.Y. – After more than a month of without outside competition, the Cornell men's polo team sharpened its skills with a 22-15 victory over the Toronto Polo Club on Saturday afternoon at Oxley Equestrian Center. The game served as a tuneup for the Northeast Regionals in two weeks and advanced the squad's record to 8-2 on the year.

The lineup of Nick Stieg, Branden Van Loon and Nik Feldman took an early 3-0 lead, but Toronto tied it up at 3. Cornell then put on a burst of five consecutive goals to pull into an 8-3 lead after one. The Big Red continued the roll early in the second by running off six more goals to start the chukker. Toronto recovered to score two goals, but the Big Red entered the half up 15-5. In the third Toronto held Cornell to three while tallying four, but it still left Cornell ahead by nine at 18-9. Stieg and Van Loon were replaced in the fourth by Hakan Karabey and Alex Langlois.  Toronto outscored in the fourth by a pair of goals, but the damage was done as the Big Red brought home the victory 22-15.

Feldman tallied 12 goals, Van Loon had six, Stieg notched two and Langlois and the horses were each credited with one score.
