ITHACA, N.Y. -- Marlan Farm pulled away in the middle two chukkers to hand the Cornell men's polo team a 25-15 loss on Saturday evening at Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red fell to 10-3 and suffered its second consecutive loss overall.

Benito Jaramillo-Samper scored seven goals with Max Sponer adding five and Malachi Light adding three. The teams traded goals to 4-4 before the visitors closed the first with consecutive goals, part of an eventual 6-0 run, that put them in the lead for good. It was 6-4 at the end of the first and 12-6 at halftime.

Marlan Farms put it away in the third, going on a 7-1 run to begin the second half that turned the game into an insurmountable 19-7 deficit.

"Obviously we are disappointed in this loss, but we scheduled this extremely high-powered team to get ready for Nationals this coming week," said Anthony Condo Jr., The Peter B. Orthwein '68 Head Coach of Polo. "We will learn, and learn quickly, from this by reviewing the video and upping the intensity in our practices this week before facing off against UVa on Friday."

The Big Red will play in the national semifinals against Virginia on Friday, March 20 at 4 p.m. CT in Oak Point, Texas.
