ITHACA, N.Y. -- Marlan Farm pulled away in the middle two chukkers to hand the Cornell men's polo team a 25-15 loss on Saturday evening at Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red fell to 10-3 and suffered its second consecutive loss overall.
Benito Jaramillo-Samper scored seven goals with
Max Sponer adding five and
Malachi Light adding three. The teams traded goals to 4-4 before the visitors closed the first with consecutive goals, part of an eventual 6-0 run, that put them in the lead for good. It was 6-4 at the end of the first and 12-6 at halftime.
Marlan Farms put it away in the third, going on a 7-1 run to begin the second half that turned the game into an insurmountable 19-7 deficit.
"Obviously we are disappointed in this loss, but we scheduled this extremely high-powered team to get ready for Nationals this coming week," said

The Big Red will play in the national semifinals against Virginia on Friday, March 20 at 4 p.m. CT in Oak Point, Texas.
