ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell junior high jumper
Montez Blair has been selected by the USATF to represent the United States at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia from July 6-17. The school record-holder will compete against some of the nation's top young track and field athletes.
Blair's invitation caps a fantastic week for the Big Red men's and women's track and field programs. Cornell posted four first-team, two second-team and five honorable mention All-America nods at last weekend's NCAA Outdoor Track and Field championship. Included was a fourth career second-team honor for Blair, who finished 13th nationally in the high jump.
Blair set a new Cornell record in the high jump at 7-4½ (2.24m) and won his second consecutive Ivy League title. His best mark ranked tied for fifth in Division I heading into the championships and is ranked fourth all-time in league history. He was named the USTFCCCA regional Field Athlete of the Year at the conclusion of the season.
