PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The women's soccer team hit the road for the final time, suffering a 2-0 loss to Brown on Sunday afternoon at Stevenson Field.

Cornell (7-8, 1-4 Ivy League) hoped to carry momentum from its 1-0 victory against NJIT in the team's non-conference finale last Sunday back into Ivy play, but Brown (6-6-3, 1-2-2 Ivy League) scored two first-half goals to keep the Big Red at arm's length.

Mikela Waldman opened the scoring for Brown in the 22nd minute. After receiving a pass from Allie Reilly, Waldman chipped a lob shot from the left side of the box over the lunging save attempt from Cornell goalkeeper Kelsey Tierney. Brown connected on a similar play 15 minutes later when Carly Gould again beat Tierney with an arching chip shot from the left side of the box.

Claire MacManus led the Big Red with three attempted shots. Cornell had five shots on goal for the day.

The Big Red will conclude the 2014 season with two fixtures at Berman Field. The squad will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 1, when it welcomes Princeton for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff on East Hill. The Big Red will then host Senior Day on Nov. 8, when it welcomes Dartmouth with opening kick again scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
