ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's polo team will travel to face regional rival Connecticut on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. in Storrs, Conn. It will be the second meeting between the traditional Northeast powers.
The Big Red brings an 8-4 record into the contest after having its three-game win streak snapped last weekend in a 19-18 defeat at the hands of Virginia. The Cavaliers have won consecutive games over Cornell by the same exact score at Oxley Equestrian Center, also capturing the final of the William S. Field Invitational in late November.
Cornell and Connecticut met on Nov. 2 at Oxley with the home team running away for a 28-10 victory. The Big Red ran out to a 17-2 lead at the break and cruised to the victory.
Nik Feldman and Nick Stieg each tallied eight goals.
At 8-4, the men's team is out to make a run toward the program's seventh national championship appearance in the last 10 years has begun. Eldredge has guided the Big Red to a 404-170-8 record (.701) in his 28 years on the sidelines with the men and 854-294-25 record (.739) combined with the men's and women's teams.
