ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 7 Cornell men's heavyweight rowing team earned a pair of victories this morning on Lake Carnegie, but No. 5 Yale claimed its first Carnegie Cup since 2010, when it defeated the Big Red and No. 4 Princeton in the varsity eight race.
The Big Red started the day with a bang, winning the first two events in dominating fashion, crossing the line first in in both the fourth varsity eight and the third varsity eight. Cornell couldn't keep the momentum going, however, and placed third overall in both the second varsity eight, and the first varsity eight, which was raced for the Carnegie Cup.
Cornell is back in action next weekend as it travels to Hanover, N.H. to race against Dartmouth.
