ITHACA, N.Y. –
Dayna Smith, The Rebecca Quinn Morgan '60 Head Coach of Women's Basketball has announced the Big Red's incoming class of 2018.The Big Red will add five players to next year's squad, as Janée Dennis (Burlington, N.J.), Christine Ehland (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Jamie Hill (Montville, Conn.), Janelle Odionu (Newmarket, Ala.) and Paige Samuelson (Rock Hill, S.C.) will join the team for the 2014-15 season. The class of five players come from five different states and consists of three forwards and two guards.

#10 Janée Dennis – 6-0 – Guard
Burlington Twp., N.J. (St. Andrew's School)At St. Andrew's School
Dennis lettered four times at St. Andrew's School, serving as team captain as a senior. She earned a spot on the Blue-Gold All-Star team following her senior season and won her school's Lasting Contribution Award for Basketball in 2014. Dennis also lettered three times in volleyball, serving as team captain as a senior, and rowed for two seasons.
Coach Smith on Dennis: "We are excited about Janee's ability to shoot the ball, as well as her ability to defend with her size and length on the perimeter. At 6-0, she is a prolific 3-point shooter with a developing mid-range game. We are looking forward to the versatility she will bring to our guard core next season."
#33 Christine Ehland – 6-1 – Forward
Pittsburgh, Pa. (Mt. Lebanon HS)At Mt. Lebanon HS
Ehland was a four-time letter winner at Mt. Lebanon high school, serving as team captain her senior season. She helped her team to a WPIAL runner-up finish in 2011, before winning the championship in 2012 and going on to win the state championship that same season. Following her senior season, Ehland was named a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette South Fab Five selection and earned her second consecutive 2014 Quad A first-team all-section honor. She played in the 2014 Roundball Classic all-star game and was the 2014 Hoops for a Cure all-star game MVP. Ehland also played one year of lacrosse.
Coach Smith on Ehland: "Christine is a very hard-working and determined small forward. She has been very well-coached throughout her career and we are excited about her interior abilities. Her experience in an up-tempo system will prove beneficial in our transition game, and she understands how to get shots off in the paint."
#04 Jamie Hill – 5-9 – Guard

Hill earned four varsity letters at Montville high school, serving as team captain her senior season. She was named the 2014 Connecticut East Region Player of the Year after finishing the season as the Eastern Connecticut Conference's leading scorer. Hill was a three-time first-team All-Eastern Connecticut Conference selection and was a two-time first-team all-state honoree, as well as being named to the Connecticut East Regional All-Star Team twice. She registered more than 1,000 points during her career and shot 42 percent from three-point range. Hill was also a first-team Academic All-State selection and won the CIAC Scholar-Athlete award.
Coach Smith on Hill: "Jamie is a scorer. She is a 3-point threat first and foremost, and has worked very hard to add versatility to her game in her senior season. Her shooting ability is her greatest attribute and we believe she will continue to grow as a scorer in our program over her career."
#25 Janelle Odionu – 6-4 – Forward
Newmarket, Ala. (Bishop Montgomery HS (Torrance, Calif.))Prior To Cornell
Odionu played for Buckhorn high school, before graduating from Bishop Montgomery high school in Torrance, Calif. She was the 2013-14 CIF Division 4AA Player of the Year and was named the 2014 Daily Breeze Girls Basketball Newcomer of the Year. As a senior captain, Odionu was named Bishop Montgomery's Distinguished Athlete Award winner, as well as the school's Scholar Athlete Award winner. She was named first-team All-Del Rey and a California Collision All-Star Team - Southern Section selection after helping her squad to the 2013-14 CIF Championship. In 2011-12, Odionu helped Buckhorn high school win the North Alabama League championship and was named the tournament MVP.
Coach Smith on Odionu: "We are very excited about Janelle's abilities in the low post. She has excellent footwork, nice touch around the basket and will provide a much needed presence in the paint with her 6-3 frame. Her athleticism and ability to execute the screen and roll will be a great addition to our system."
#30 Paige Samuelson – 6-3 – Forward
Rock Hill, S.C. (Northwestern HS)At Northwestern HS
Samuelson earned three varsity letters at Northwestern high school. As team captain her senior season, she went on to earn All-Region 3-4A Herald all-area honors. Samuelson helped her team to four consecutive regional championships. She was named her team's most improved player following her freshmen season.
Coach Smith on Samuelson: "Paige will be a presence in the paint defensively for us thanks to her long wingspan. We are excited about the potential she brings to our program, and she and Janelle [Odionu] have helped to add much needed size to our frontcourt. At 6-3, Paige can play both inside and out and she runs the floor very well on the offensive end."
