BURLINGTON, VT. – In the first game of the Windjammer Classic, women's hockey used four different goal-scorers and a strong penalty kill in the third period to top Boston University, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon at Gutterson Fieldhouse. Freshman
Pippy Gerace was named Player of the Game after recording a goal and an assist.

Cassandra Poudrier got the Big Red on the board first, scoring on the power play at 5:49 with assists from freshman
Micah Hart and senior
Jess Brown.
The Terriers came storming back, scoring two goas in 48 seconds – a power play tally from Sarah Lefort at 8:26 and a goal from Lillian Barga at 9:14 -- to take a 2-1 lead. But Cornell would answer before the period closed, with senior
Taylor Woods netting her third of the year at 15:11 to leave the score knotted at two at the end of the first.
Gerace put the Big Red back out front, scoring the game-winner and her third of the season 2:32 into the second, with Poudrier picking up her second point of the game with an assist and sophomore
Erin O'Connor recording the secondary helper.
With 16 seconds left in the second period, senior
Jess Brown added the insurance goal with assists to sophomore
Sarah Knee and junior
Kaitlin Doering. With the assist, Knee notched her first point of the season and became the 17
th of Cornell's 18 skaters to get on the scoresheet.
The Big Red's penalty kill was tested in the third period with four trips to the box, but freshman goaltender
Marlene Boissonnault turned away all 10 shots that came her way in the third and finished with 21 saves on the day.
The win, an important one for Cornell with Boston University receiving votes in both polls this week, lifted the Big Red to 4-5-2 and dropped the Terriers to 10-7-0.
Cornell will play its second and final game of the Windjammer Classic on Sunday when it faces host Vermont at 4 p.m.
