Men's Polo Closes Out Semester With Win Over Yale

Ithaca, N.Y. – The Big Red men's polo team defeated the Yale Bulldogs 21-4 on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Oxley Equestrian Center in their last match of the fall season.  

Freshman Liam Palacios and sophomores Dan Shaw and Ryan Saul started for the Big Red.  The trio let by one goal in the first before scoring the next scored the next seven.  Yale recovered to score an additional goal to make it 7-2 Cornell after one. 

Saul sat out the second as senior Baturay Turkmen came in.? Cornell did not skip a beat.  The Big Red shut out the Bulldogs in the second chukker to open a 13-2 halftime lead.?  

Palacios and Shaw sat for the third as Saul and Liang Liang Feng entered.? Cornell again turned on the defense and shut out Yale increasing the margin to a 17-2 lead heading into the fourth.?  

Saul sat for the fourth as freshman Liam Palacios finished the match off along with Turkmen and Feng.  The Big Red captured the match with a final score of 21-4.  Shaw led with seven goals, Palacios followed with six, Saul contributed three, Feng added two, Turkmen supplied one along with a penalty and pony goal. 

The Big Red will be back at it after winter break.
