BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The men's tennis team pushed its record above .500 for the first time this season with a convincing 7-0 victory over Binghamton on Saturday at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
Cornell (6-5), which is tabbed 50th in the country in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, took the doubles point and went on to win four of six singles matches in straight sets. With the victory, Cornell improved to 24-3 all-time against Binghamton.
The Big Red won the top two doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead, then the top three spots in the singles order won their respective matches in straight sets. Sophomore
Bernardo Casares Rosa dropped the fewest games of that bunch, winning 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 3 position.
Stefan Vinti won 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 position, and senior
Sam Fleck closed out Sid Hazarika, 6-3, 7-5.

Dylan Brown had the Big Red's most convincing victory, topping his opponent at the No. 6 spot, 6-0, 6-4. Sophomores
Chris Vrabel and
Colin Sinclair rallied to win after dropping the first set of their respective matches.
The Big Red wraps up the non-league portion of its schedule next week when it plays host to St. John's on Wednesday and Buffalo on Sunday, March 22 at Reis Tennis Center.
