Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 13 Princeton Remains Perfect In Win Over Women’s Basketball

ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 13 Princeton women's basketball team improved to 28-0 (12-0 Ivy) on the season with a 70-37 victory over the Big Red this evening in Newman Arena. Cornell will look to finish the season on a high note, and honor seniors Christine Kline and Sarah Poland, when it welcomes Penn tomorrow, Saturday, March 7, at 6 p.m.

Cornell (15-12, 6-7) was led by Nia Marshall with eight points and six rebounds, while Kline and Kerri Moran added six points apiece. Nicholle Aston chipped in five rebounds.

Princeton was led by Michelle Miller and Blake Dietrick with 15 points apiece. Miller also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds, while Dietrick handed out a game-high six assists.

The Tigers controlled the game with sharp shooting, hitting nearly 52 percent overall (25-52) and 61 percent from beyond the arc (8-13), and by outrebounding the Big Red, 47-29.

Cornell connected on just 25 percent from the floor (14-55) and a mere 14 percent from 3-point range (1-7), but took great care of the ball with just seven turnovers. The Big Red also forced Princeton into 15 miscues.

Princeton controlled the game right from the start, jumping out to an 8-0 lead and never looking back. A 3-pointer by Kline at the 15:49 mark made it a five-point contest, but that was as close as the game would get, as the Tigers eventually went up by 22 points before taking the 39-19 advantage into the intermission.

The visitors stretched their lead to 38 points (65-27) with just over seven minutes to play but with both teams subbing liberally, the Big Red closed the game on a 10-5 run to account for the 70-37 final.
